geez, I did it again. I dropped the new camera, back to the store and change my camera!
just words tonight ...
puppies are doing great. By last night in a day of being in the kitchen, they were skidding into each other, going in and out of the whelping box, going to the potty park and using it! such of a blessing have a litter of puppies. Their instinct is to be clean and go to a specific place to relieve themselves. Poodles are smart, they know not to pee in their bed and that it's a good idea not to "go" everywhere, hence the potty park works well.
Fifi was in there while I was making our dinner and playing with the puppies. Couple of them thought it was fine for a couple of seconds, after that they were yelling at her or barking at her. Momma Hilde was over there doing her sweet little growling at Fifi. Time to take her out. One of the bigger boys saw his chance to squeeze through the wall and the whelping box, time to tighten it up! These puppies keep me on my toes.
Fyi, if you doubt the potty park ... Fifi was in the kitchen playing with the puppies, eating, drinking water, put her in the family room (I have the garage door half open with the potty park in the garage) she's rassling with Pippa and playing tough. I look around and say ... where's Fifi? ... there she is on the potty park going poo and pee-pee. She's 12 weeks old and dependable, she hasn't had a mistake of peeing on my carpeting yet, which is god sent!

After Hilde fed them they were biting my legs and feet. I put about a 1/4 cup of From kibble puppy (very small bites) and sure enough, they crunched away on it. These guys grew up faster than I thought I guess, they are ready for just about anything.
Gypsy jumped into the whelping box and pulled the blue whelping blanket over so she could chew on the newspaper underneath it. Time to clear all of that out. I had them on puppy pads yesterday morning instead of the towels just to catch up on washing towels, many of them like to chew the pads, so out they went. We found out the hard way the plastic on the pads do not digest. Do be careful once your puppies go home and keep paper and plastic away from the puppy. It's been my experience (including surgery) puppies will eat the puppy pads, they make noise when they walk on them and they go into the mouth. So please opt for training on other things than paper and puppy pads. Petco, etc. have washable pads that you can use instead of paper if you don't want to use the potty park. I suggest the potty park, but ya know, a puppy will eat and chew on that too.
Puppies are into the chewing stage, their teeth itch and have a row of nubs or sharp little grizzlies popping out.
Puppies are doing good,
pictures coming soon...
