New Pictures Just Came In

Gypsy's family brought their camera to the personality testing, here's some really candid pictures of most of the puppies ... so cute!

Best Guess on who?  bottom left is pink collared girl Ginger behind her looks like Georgie, he's tall, middle is Genevieve (shaved face before I got the flue), bottom right either Georgia or Gidget, behind her is the red collared bones boy, Gregory.  And they were their to test ... lol ... ok, play!

Genevieve, she's so much like her mother.  She will act calm, just sit a watch, and then bounce to her feet playfully, sweetly.  Really a great puppy.  Either her or Ginger are already chosen, will know soon.

 oh... there's my Georgie Poo!

Sweet thoughtful Gidget, she's off to Washington to Nancy next week.

Pink collar girl is Ginger, the camera caught a split second of thought, she's off doing something soon.  (she's very black, luckily they lightened it to see her, but she's black)

hmm, a lot of the puppies have their tongues out in the pictures, must have been really fun, they loved it. Gregory was liking it too with his little tongue out.  These are such loving poodle puppies!

Gypsy, chosen by the Moore family here in CA, can ya tell she's very loved?  They adore her.
whooho ... what a chest that baby has.

All of the puppies have good chests and beautiful faces and conformations

Genevieve or Ginger is being decided upon

If you are a wonderful loving forever home and would like one of these puppies, contact us at barefootpudels@gmail.com they will be 8 wks old on friday, ready to go home.

Took stool samples to the vets a couple of days ago, they are taking meds for Coccidiosis, please remember to take their fresh stool sample in 10 weeks old.  It's a common puppy parasite/worm that puppies can get just from walking around.  On their new puppy visit to the vets discuss what they've taken and how they want to proceed.  Worms and parasites can really make a doggie sick, so something new puppy owners need to be aware and follow up as your veterinarian says.

Volhard Aptitude Testing

This litter's testing is saturday!

please remember these are purebred poodles and this test was designed for police training dogs, a poodle will interpret much different than another breed.

Poodles are social, loving, high quality companions
Look for fun training classes from AKC and UKC

this litter will be tested with the Volhard guidelines
http://www.volhard.com/pages/pat.php

WHAT IS PUPPY TESTING?

Some of the tests we use were developed as long ago as the l930’s for dogs bred to become Guide Dogs.  Then in the 1950’s, studies on puppies were done to determine how quickly they learned.  These studies were actually done to identify children’s learning stages.

Later on in the early 60’s more tests were developed to determine if pups could be tested for dominance and submission.  These tests determined that it was indeed possible to predict future behavioral traits of adult dogs by testing puppies at 49 days of age.  Testing before or after that age, effected the accuracy of the test, depending on the time before or after the 49th day.

These tests were put together what is now known as the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test, or PAT.  PAT uses a scoring system from 1-6 and consists of ten tests.  The tests are done consecutively and in the order listed.  Each test is scored separately, and interpreted on its own merits.  The scores are not averaged, and there are no winners or losers.

The entire purpose is to select the right puppy for the right home.

The tests are as follows:

1. Social Attraction - degree of social attraction to people, confidence or dependence.

2. Following - willingness to follow a person.

3. Restraint - degree of dominant or submissive tendency, and ease of handling in difficult situations.

4. Social Dominance - degree of acceptance of social dominance by a person.

5. Elevation - degree of accepting dominance while in a position of no control, such as at the veterinarian or groomer.

6. Retrieving - degree of willingness to do something for you. Together with Social Attraction and Following a key indicator for ease or difficulty in training.

7. Touch Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to touch and a key indicator to the type of training equipment required.
8. Sound Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to sound, such as loud noises or thunderstorms.

9. Sight Sensitivity - degree of response to a moving object, such as chasing bicycles, children or squirrels.

10. Stability - degree of startle response to a strange object.

During the testing make a note of the heart rate of the pup, which is an indication of how it deals with stress, as well as its energy level.  Puppies come with high, medium or low energy levels.  You have to decide for yourself, which suits your life style.  Dogs with high energy levels need a great deal of exercise, and will get into mischief if this energy is not channeled into the right direction.

Finally, look at the overall structure of the puppy.  You see what you get at 49 days age.  If the pup has strong and straight front and back legs, with all four feet pointing in the same direction, it will grow up that way, provided you give it the proper diet and environment in which to grow.  If you notice something out of the ordinary at this age, it will stay with puppy for the rest of its life.  He will not grow out of it.

Does well with loving and affectionate household

Mostly 6’s     -

This puppy is fairly independent
For a poodle as a six, they are like warm clay, they can be left to themselves and become more independent, or with a family of children and well socialized, they will stay playful and affectionate and one of your best companions you could ever have.
Our Tigre' was tested as a "6" she was loving and wonderful, she was a tiny aloof but always affectionate.  She has an independent side which means she can entertain herself.  She was one of the best personality poodles we've ever had.  As a poodle she was always concerned about pleasing her people, wanted to be right next to you in an affectionate manner.  Really an awesome poodle.

Please take into consideration the testing and the nature of a poodle.

I doubt any of Everad's puppies will test as a "6", he's all about affection and getting hugs, most of his puppies are tested as 3s 4s and 3-4s.

Hilde wasn't tested as a young one puppy, her last litter they were just like Everad's litter.  We did have the most Stellar puppy ever with Hilde and Joaquin.  He was not too much, not too less, calmly balanced and would shake off anything that might bother him.  He never overreacted and would go off by himself if things got too rowdy.  He is a fabulous puppy.

check back after the testing see who's available

Color?

Let's take a minute and talk about poodle color.

There are varying shades of a "blue" poodle.  It's a little confusing to some.  Hilde looks black but technically she is a blue having a tiny bit of lighter shade around her nose and a few white hairs throughout her coat.

Everad was suppose to be black however at 2.5 years old, we woke up one morning and sure enough his face was light ... I mean, the top of his nose is silvery and then it varigates down the sides of his face into black.  He is also a blue and lighter than Hilde.

Below are samples of this litter's colors: blue, black & cream.

This is our first litter with Hilde and Everad, so we've had some wonderful discoveries along the way.

We do however encourage people to pick their lifetime companion by personality and color secondary, but yeah I know, I have "color" preferences that I lean towards too, so no problem.

A few of our lighter puppies could be this color of blue which is also very beautiful.  exotic

Hilde's momma "Marla" is a blue, she's dark with lighter hairs through her coat like Hilde.  Marla is 20" tall, Hilde stretched to 21.5" tall when she turned two years old.  Her sire is 24".

The blue poodle is a dilute of black, it carries the fading gene. If someone is looking to breed their puppy when they grow up, the blue poodle might make a difference to them but otherwise to the untrained eye most of the blue poodles look black.

Blue poodle puppies are born black and turn blue over time. This poodle color takes the longest time to clear. Puppies at a young age will have brown highlights (brownish hue) showing they are a blue puppy but not a black puppy.  By 2-3 years of age the dog will usually have it's adult color. Blue poodles should have black points and dark brown eyes.

Black Poodles

The Black poodle color should be a a deep jet black. No hint of a brownish hue or white hairs. The face when shaved should be almost as dark in color as the main coat.  A true black should never fade and they should never have white or silver guard hairs.  Blacks must have black points and dark brown eyes.

Pictured here is Everad's uncle, Zachary, same litter as Everad's dad, Zivan below.   Zachary is 20" tall and in Everad's litters we usually get a black boy and sometimes a few girls that will be a beautiful black poodle as their uncle Zachary about 20" tall.  This litter we have one boy and one girl that are predicted to be about 20".

Creams are almost white to a champagne color.  The Cream Poodles also have black stains or points with lightly tinted apricot ears. Between these poodles, you can find combination of cream and white and they look very beautiful.  Above is Everad's sire, Zivan, he is 17" tall.  This is where we get those perfect little cream puppies. They are spectacular as their multi-champion grand-dad.  Everad's great-granddad "Ivan" and great-grandmother "Frappy" are 17" tall. Frappy is black with no greying at 8 years old.

Puppies 6 weeks tomorrow

Pictures of our beautiful puppies!
color, size and prices are now posted

Boys First, Large to Small

Gregory
red bone collar
Gregory weighed 7# today.  He's a laid back kind of guy, the big boy of the litter, will be 24" at the withers if not taller.  He is a black puppy that will have a few greying light hairs on his body like his momma.  He has a brownish hue to his black coat.  He's a beautiful puppy, sweet, calm, a real wiggly tail.  He's really a cutie.  Gregory is a standard poodle puppy available for $1500.

Georgie
blue bone collar boy
Georgie weighed 6.3# today.  He's a scootin', playful, darling joyful little guy.  If you want to be entertained and have a happy fun loving standard poodle, this will be your guy.  He will love to go places and be adventurous.  Probably not good for a family that needs to leave him home by himself all day, he will want to go with you and have a good time.  He's the most active boy we have out of this litter.  A black boy with a tiny bit of lighter hairs around his nose, no brownish hue.  He will look black like his momma.  Georgie is a small standard poodle, available for $1500.
here's Georgie kicking up his heels having a good time joyfully playing

Gervais (Ger-vay)
orange collar boy
Gervais weighed 5#14oz.  He was prancing and playing, wanted to see outside the window.  He is noticeably smaller than his big brothers above.  Sweet, cuddly but playful and curious always looking at me and wanting to go jump around and play.  He reminds me of "Finn" from Everad's litter with Grace now 14 wks old.  Gervais will be under 20" tall, 25-30#.  Since he basically weighs 6# at six weeks old, I will say he's a very small standard poodle puppy.  Gervais will look black with a lighter black face with a few greying hairs on his body.   Gervais is available for $1500

Grigg
black collared boy
Grigg is noticeably smaller than all of his brothers.  I put the camera up and he runs towards me and ran right off of the table.  Weighed 5#9oz today.  He is small and light weight he will be about 18" at the withers just like his daddy.  He is the only male klein out of this litter which is not uncommon for the boys.  He will be a black looking kleinpudel with lighter around his nose and some greying hairs on his body.  Grigg is proud and beautiful, available for $1800.

ok, now the girls also large to small

Genevieve
raspberry collar
Genevieve has her momma's personality, conformation and beauty.  She's sweet and calm, curious but cooperative.  Weighed 6.5# today, I believe she will be about 21-22"about 30-32#.  She's a lovely puppy with lighter black on her entire nose.  She will be more of a blue than her momma and daddy, maybe as light of a "blue" poodle picture on our website.  She is the most show quality of all of these show quality puppies.  She's an exceptional puppy.  Genevieve is available for $1800.

Ginger
pink collared girl
oh geez, Ginger is going to be smaller than we thought she would be.  Weighed 5#5oz today, I believe she will be 19-21".  She's also curious and playful and on the calm side, I would say personality very much like Genevieve, she will be a great little small standard poodle, beautiful to look at and a wonderful loving forever companion.  Ginger is a black puppy.  Ginger is available for $1500.
she loved the attention, she's a sweet girl

Gidget
lime green collared girl
Gidget is sweet, happy, always moving, tough to get her picture.  She gives me kisses.  She's a perfect little "Gidget"  Weighed 4#14oz she's definitely one of the kleinpudels will be about 18" grown.  She's dark, might be black, no light hair around her nose.  Probably as dark or darker than her mom.  She's a beautiful darling little girl, an Everad puppy for sure.  Gidget is available for $1800.

The last two puppies for their photo shoot were in the kennel outside by themselves by this time, they were so wound up.  It's so funny they get self conscious ... where'd they go?

Georgia
red collar girl
Georgia weighed 4#14oz, same as Gidget.  She's full of energy had been rassling with Gypsy the last two puppies for pictures.  I picked her up from playing and she just kept romping.  Georgia has lots of lighter black around her entire nose.  She gives me kisses.  She's a beautiful lovely little puppy.  Full of spunk and sweet as anything.  She will be about 18" tall.  Georgia is available for $1800.

-picture tomorrow-

Gypsy
Gypsy comes running when I call the puppies.  She climbs all over me with kisses, she's a darling cute little cream girl.  Weighed 4#8oz today.  She will be about 17-18" tall.  Darling, sweet, positive happy attitude just like a standard poodle with a small square body like a miniature.  She's a very special puppy, but they all are.  Gypsy is available for $2,000.

-picture tomorrow-

You think these puppies are cute now, just wait until next week when we shave their faces!

there is a discount for new owner's

2)  that get two puppies from this litter

Momma Hilde
Hilde is considered a "blue" she looks black, she's 21.5" 30-32#
she's happy, sweet, mild mannered.  She's a pleasure to have around, will hang out in the house, she's cuddly and sweet.  She's playfully quick and exceptionally beautiful, fast sleek movement.  She can catch a gopher with her tenacity and quickness.  She's an amazing forever companion of ours, she's part of our lives and part of our family.  She comes from 100% clear genetic & multi-championed background.

Poppa Everad
Everad is the most awesome doggie we've ever had.  He loves people, places and adventurous.  He can relax and lay around in the house (with his pink toy) and run the acre.  He is also a blue, his face is lighter than Hilde's.  He jumps easily and is the faster doggie I've ever seen.  He is our special lifetime forever companion.  He loves agility, intelligent and likes be positive and happy.  He is 18" tall 22-24# now that he's 3.5 y/o.  Everad comes from an impeccible background of genetic testing, grand champions, holistically raised.  His great grand-sire was born in Latvia (Germany).  Everad is truly a high quality poodle that's called a kleinpudel.

please note that "klein" and "moyen" are interchangeable, "klein" being a german term, and "moyen" being a french term, both registered as "medium" with the Federation Cynologique Internationale.  The FCI classifies this fourth variety (size) as over 35 cm to 45 cm (14 ins to 18 ins).

AKC has rumored to create the fourth size of "caniche moyen".  However, for now, any poodle that is over 15" at the withers is registered as a standard poodle.

this litter is registered AKC
