I've had a breeder balk at me about knowing these puppies are silver or not. Please note that until the puppies' faces start turning silver I won't know for positive sure if they will be a silver puppy.
... that being said! I havn't been wrong on the silver puppies yet.
As the white toe nail puppies grow they will show more and more signs of transforming into a silver puppy. As they grow they will have a mahogony or brownish hue to their black coats. Their nails will stay white and the tufts get more white on them.
I determine at 6-7 weeks old exactly what "color" I will register the puppies as. If they have a silver face they will be registered silver ... pretty straight forward eh? If they have a black face with the brownish hue, white tuft, etc. they will be registered blue.
silver puppies start turning silver by 3-4 weeks old and it is obvious
before the personality testing I let everyone know which puppy will be a silver and which puppy will be registered blue. The blues might be varying in lightness but I do go by the color of their face. I will also know which puppies will be medium (moyens) and small standards and I will know which puppies will be the very small 16-18" moyens, and will post the puppy's price appropriately.
This litter will be registered with AKC and UKC illegible if you want to show and/or have more opportunity to compete in agility, obedience, etc. I do hope most people will train the puppies, they are brilliantly smart and absolutely lovely affectionate wonderful companions that have show quality conformation. Most everyone of them should be show conformations being sold as "pets."
I'm doing the marking of the puppies a little different than the past. Instead of putting rickrack on them at two days old, I am waiting to ID the puppies exactly until after Monday when they get their tails docked and their dew claws removed. I can tell them apart by color and size right now.
Here's the stats on these little baby puppies now two days old
Gypsy is the easiest to say who she is, she's the only cream in the bunch. She got a little much fluid when she was born, I was initially concerned but not any more. She's tiny but fine. She's pushing and shoving just like her siblings and eating from momma regularly. I am supplementing her with esbilac puppy goats milk couple of times a day for good measure. She weighed 8oz this morning.
Gidget is 13oz today, the little girl with white nails and lots of white tufts on the pads of her feet, she will be a silver puppy.
Ginger the 14oz girl with a little white on her nails and a tiny bit of white on the tufts of her feet, I'm guessing she will look black at 8 wks old, but will blue like her parents.
Georgia the 13oz girl also with white nails and white tufts on the pads of her feet. I am referring to this beautiful plump little puppy as a silver girl.
Genevieve, a big name for a little puppy. Genevieve weighs 13oz this morning. She has white toe nails and white tufts on the pads of her feet. This little girl will be a silver puppy.
the boys have plumped right up and pushing those girls to the side at feeding time ... LOL, sounds right doesn't it?
please note these puppies can change a lot in 6-7 weeks, the small pups can grow faster and the big puppies can slow down. I do the best I can registering them appropriately in color and saying what size they will be grown, if they will be the very small moyen or medium moyen to small standard.
I do not guarantee size or color ... ever ... but do the best educated guess as possible before it's time for the picking evaluating them constantly but nothing "official" until they are 6-7 wks old.
Gervais (Ger-vay) weighted 15oz this morning. His nails are lighter but not as white as his siblings which is a change now that he's two days old. A little bit of white on the tufts of his feet, this little guy might be a darker silver or a blue, time will tell.
Gregory weighed 1.1# this morning. Right now we call him the big boy. His hair is smooth and black, he has white nails with white on the tufts of the pads of his feet, will be a silver boy.
Georgie weighed 15oz today, his nails are darkening, the nails are sort of white. Well, they look white from underneath but the tops look light black. Will be fun to see how that owrks out! He has a little bit of white tufts on the pads of his feet.
Grigg weighed 14 oz today, he has white nails and white tufts on the pads of his feet. Yep, calling him a silver puppy. Depending how he grows, he's been the smallest of the boys so far.
The larger puppies might be noted as small standards by the time they are 7 wks old, if we actually have a small standard they will be $1500 instead of the medium moyen puppies that are $1800. The very small moyen puppy that should be 16-18" tall full grown will be $2000. Gypsy as you can see will probably be in her own category, she might catch up completely or she just looks small and is the size she was meant to be. I hope no one is calling her "the runt" she's probably Everad's sire's throw. Everad's sire and grandsire are cream and 17" tall.
